Bruckner Commons1948-1998 Bruckner Blvd.
Bronx, NY 10473
Located off the Bruckner Expressway (I-287) Bruckner Commons straddles the Castle Hill, Unionport and Soundview – densely populated working class neighborhoods. Bruckner Commons is a regional center for the Southern Bronx. It has been a retail hub since the 1930’s.
Bruckner Commons serves the South Bronx Community, particularly the Soundview, Park Chester, Shore Haven, Classon Point, and Castle Hill Neighborhoods. Because of the center’s size and accessibility from the Bruckner Expressway, the center attracts shoppers from a larger radius than most urban centers.
Located at the intersection of the Bruckner Expressway and White Plains Road, the project boasts over 80,000 vehicles per day, all of which pass by the center. Three buses stop at the center and the Elder Avenue subway station is a 15 minute walk.
Several local schools including the Soundview Academy (for art) and dense housing developments populate the area.
A $50 million renovation is underway, ShopRite, Burlington, Kicks and Urban Eyes have opened within the last 8 months.
